How This Resume Came Together

There are thousands of resume templates on the internet. I’ve tried many of them too, changing the layout, moving sections around, rewriting headings, and making countless small edits just to find something that actually felt right.

This template is the result of those iterations.

After multiple versions, edits, and even last-minute changes before applications and interviews, I eventually arrived at a resume structure that was clean, well-organized, easy to update, and helped me present my work in the strongest way possible.

I used this very structure for my own applications and it helped me get into graduate school and land a role at a company I was excited to work for.

That experience is what made me want to share it with you.

Whether you’re applying to graduate schools, looking for your first full-time opportunity, or already have experience and want to move toward your next role, this template gives you a strong starting point instead of making you spend hours wondering where everything should go.

The sections, headings, spacing, and overall structure are carefully arranged to help a recruiter or admissions reviewer quickly understand who you are, what you’ve done, and what makes you worth considering.

It also helps you identify what needs to be updated in your current resume from how you present your experience and projects to how you organize your skills and achievements.

This is the resume structure I actually used, refined through real applications, and eventually found worth keeping.

And if you have an interview tomorrow and your resume still isn’t ready, this can be your starting point tonight, replace the placeholders, add your experience, make it yours, and walk into that interview with a resume you’re confident handing over.

This isn’t meant to be the “perfect resume” for everyone.

It’s a well-tested structure that gives you the foundation to build one that is right for you.
